3D scanning and reverse engineering

Do you need a spare part or product that is no longer available? With 3D scanning and reverse engineering, we can create an accurate 3D model of an existing part, product, space, or even a person.

3D scanning and reverse engineering

3D scanning refers to the digitization of an existing part into an accurate 3D model. A 3D scanner measures surfaces and shapes, resulting in an accurate digital point cloud model.

Reverse engineering refers to the process of creating an editable 3D model based on scanned data. The necessary changes can be made to the model, and a new product can be manufactured using 3D printing or another manufacturing method.

The end result is an editable digital 3D model that enables fast and cost-effective manufacturing and further development.

The finished 3D model can be used immediately in 3D printing, CNC machining, or other manufacturing processes. CNC machining or other manufacturing. The 3D model can be used in technical documents and further development.

The 3D model can be modified by lightening the structure, reinforcing critical points, changing dimensions and shapes, and adding or removing structural elements as needed.

3D printing provides more opportunities for modifying and optimizing 3D models. 3D printing can be used to create complex shapes and hollow structures that are not possible with traditional methods. Subassemblies can be manufactured as a single piece, which reduces the need for assembly and improves durability.

Frequently asked questions about 3D scanning and reverse engineering

The stages of 3D scanning and reverse modeling

  1. We scan the product with a highly accurate 3D scanner that records all dimensions and details with an accuracy of up to 0.05 millimeters.
  2. Transferring scan data to 3D modeling software
After scanning, the data is transferred to 3D modeling software and we perform reverse modeling. Scan data often consists of point clouds or triangular surface models, which cannot be edited as such.
  3. Creating a 3D model
Based on the scan data, we use reverse engineering (RE) to create an accurate and editable 3D model that can be used directly in 3D printing or other manufacturing processes.
  4. Model optimization and modification through reverse engineering (RE)
During reverse engineering, we optimize the model according to the customer's wishes. We can modify the model, lighten the structure, reinforce critical points, and improve durability.
  5. Ready-to-produce model
We also offer 3D printing services and assembly. We provide comprehensive 3D printing services, so you get everything you need under one roof – from modeling to finished products, quickly and effortlessly.
  6. Model storage in the digital library
If you wish, we can store your 3D model in our digital library, where it will be easily accessible for future production and development needs.
  • 3D scanning provides accurate scan data from almost any physical object.
  • Reverse engineering is used to create an accurate 3D model (CAD model) from the scanned data.
  • The 3D model can be optimized, modified, and corrected as needed.
  • The 3D model can be 3D printed into a finished product.
  • You can quickly and cost-effectively obtain spare parts or products that are not available elsewhere.
